The dwelling, the human room, is the original landmark of the
architecture. The weakness of the newborn into a well postured human
race intensified the necessity of adequate spaces and developed the
strength and complexity of the kinship unit, leading the natural
shelter to be manipulated and the artificial one to be shaped, slowly,
according to the materials and instruments available and adapted
depending on the emerging cultural and comfort requirements.

architecture itself, like a specific discipline, in a persistent exercise
of precision in favour of progress, which must contribute to
discriminating the dwelling production. The integration of new
environmental and technological requirements, offering versatile
spaces, must operate with rationality and flexibility from the
solvency.
In Spain, during decades, property has been the most
significant indicator of the effort to overcome the state of its
architecture. The most qualified proposals have not only been produced
in response to the most exceptional private demand, it has also been
addressed, by veteran architects as well as young, towards the social
housing field, old challenge of modernity, even in the hardest scene of
public promotion.
For this reason the varied works that integrate
this book can considered itself the most faithful witness of the scene
that the Spanish architects can offer today, without borders.
