Huge water engineering projects, land reclamation, recultivating the agricultural land... even if landscape architects have sometimes fought against the radical landscape changes caused by all this technical intervention, it has been more the other way around : the profession has accepted it as an inevitable phenomenon in the dutch landscape, and sought guidelines to optimize the outcome. It seems to be a general habit of dutch landscape architects to be fascinated by the dialogue between man-made landscapes and natural dynamics.
