Rivers are privileged indicators of the present situation. Closely linked to the development of humanity, a constant source of life and the origin of primeval settlements, their evolution has become tied to the devastating actions of man.

This issue dedicated to rivers features a range of projects with various different treatments, scales and situation: from large-scale conversion of a torrent into a public park or the marked linearity of the improvement of urban riverbanks to delicate smaller-scale projects such as the preparation work at a small waterfall or the pilot project for the renaturalisation of a channelled river.
