Wood seems to have discovered a new life in connection with environmental and sustainability concerns and C3 has collected together 11 projects for offices, community centres, public buildings, hotels and resorts that embrace the use of this material. Featured are such projects as Skidmore, Owings & Merrill’s Cathedral of Christ the Light, Oakland; Alberto Mozó’s design for BIP Computers in Chile; and, Tectoniques’ design for the Espace Nordique for Biathlon in Bessans, France. Further, six projects are examined that deal with designs for transitional spaces for visitors within historically sensitive sites, including the Rietberg Museum Renovation and Extension, Zurich; the Manresa City Hall Entry and Façade, Barcelona, Spain; and the Bergen-Belsen Memorial Info Center, Germany. All works and projects are accompanied by photographs, descriptions and technical drawings.
