Amid various ecological and sustainable approaches in architectural design, the recent trend to literally cover roofs and walls with greenery – so-called ‘living’ roofs and walls has gained widespread application. This issue examines the advantages of this type of green architecture by introducing examples that range from simple roof gardens and temporary pavilions, to green houses, interior designs and public architecture. Documented throughout with colour photographs, plans, elevations and descriptive texts, the edition also includes an essay examining Patrick Blanc’s vertical gardens.
