Présentation de l'éditeur :
As a unique meeting of contemporary architecture, ancient vaulted cellars, and a long tradition of viniculture, the LOISIUM project is being presented on the periphery of Langenlois, a city in Austria famous for its wine. The project comprises an entrance structure in a multimedia setting inside a world of cellars, a hotel, and a wine-art garden. Both the hotel, u-shaped and »floating,« and the slightly tilted aluminum cube of the entrance building were designed by star New York architect Steven Holl, whose concept was inspired by the geometry of the subterranean wine cellar.
Besides being an absorbing document of the project, this book also presents Steven Holl’s own views of the four-part project, as well as essays about the region, the global phenomenon of star architects and the developers who commission their work — all in a larger context.
