Présentation de l'éditeur :
Charles and Ray Eames, a husband-and-wife partnership, were among the
most innovative and broad-based of American designers. Known primarily
for furniture design and their explorations of film and photographic
media, the Barnes's own house was one of their few experiments with
architecture.
Inspired by the Case Study Program, which was propagated
by California Arts and Architecture magazine in the 1940s and 1950s,
the house was assembled entirely from standardized industrial
components, and composed with a sensitive irregularity which reflected
Eames' interest in traditional Japanese wood-framed architecture.
Sited
at the top of a gently inclined meadow, behind a protective row of
mature eucalyptus trees, light filters into the interior where the
furniture and judiciously selected objects form a significant part of
the architectural ensemble.
